Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN THE SCHEDULE?
The details of the schedule are still being worked through, however you can expect time worshipping together and engaging with God, getting know people you don't know so well, sharing meals and stories, relaxing on the beautiful Lake Macquarie, and free time and evening activities to make Getaway a whole lot of fun.
I'M NOT SURE IF I'M A CHRISTIAN YET, AM I WELCOME TO COME?
Absolutely. If you're exploring Christian faith and the person of Jesus, we'd love to have you join us and participate in every aspect of the weekend.
WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE ON FRIDAY?
You can arrive at CRU Lake Mac any time from 6pm on Friday the 13th of September. There is no dinner provided on the Friday night, but there will be supper. Our first session kicking off the weekend will be at 8pm.
LET'S TALK ABOUT SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS: ARE ROOMS SHARED?
Families with kids will be allocated their own rooms. Adults without children will be in shared rooms. We want to make your time at Getaway fun and not stressful, so if you do need to share, our hope is to be able to allocate you to a room with a friend/friends. If you have a friend you'd like to bunk in with, you can indicate it when you register. We're open to mixed gender rooms where appropriate (eg. married couples sharing a room together, a married couple sharing with a few single friends, etc.), but our default otherwise will be single gender rooms.
WHAT ELSE SHOULD WE KNOW ABOUT THE ROOMS?
All rooms have an ensuite bathroom. You need to bring your own linen and a doona / sleeping bag.
WHAT IF I DON'T WANT TO SLEEP ON-SITE?
That's ok. We know conference/campsite accommodation isn't for everyone. You can register for an "off-site" ticket, which will give you access to all sessions of Getaway, plus meals each day (except breakfasts). Then book somewhere nearby to stay and travel in each day.
WOAH, THE COSTS ARE HIGHER THAN I EXPECTED. WHY?
We're trying to keep costs down as much as possible, but weekends away are expensive. It's good to remember that the weekend includes all meals (from supper Friday night to lunch Sunday), as well as accommodation in beautiful, newly built ensuite rooms. And it's in a picturesque location with your church family, studying God's word and being refreshed together. Yeah, it costs something to be there. But the experience will be rewarding.
WHAT IF I CAN'T PAY THE FULL AMOUNT NOW?
Get in touch with Angus and we can organise a payment plan so you can chip away at it in instalments.
